June has been a busy month so far...and from the looks of it... I don't think our summer is going to slow down anytime soon..
Last weekend was Father's Day, and although it was busy, we are happy that we were able to fit everything into a two day weekend and had a blast doing it all!
Friday night was our anniversary. Danny asked if he could take care of dinner, and I am very happy that I agreed to that. He came over and cooked up chicken, pasta, mushrooms, broccoli and alfredo sauce. It was yummy! I must say, when it comes to cooking, Danny Barker does have skills. ;) Danny had me open one of my gifts because it went along with dinner. He got me some pretty candle holders and white candles to sit in them along with different color and scented smaller candles. We lite the candles, poured some wine and enjoyed a great meal! After we opened the rest of our gifts, we decided to watch one of his favorite movies that I had gotten for him, The Rookie. It was a great night, as we winded down after a busy work week and prepared for a busy Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday we woke up a decent time and packed up the car and headed to Dayton to visit Danny's Dad for Father's Day. It was nice to see Mr. Barker and also see how their new house (and yard) are coming along. They seem to be settling in very nicely. Danny's Dad had just gotten back from meeting with a guy who does glass blowing and he showed us some pictures and videos of the pieces he is working on for the Barkers. After that we headed to City Bar B Q for a Father's day lunch. Danny had gotten some gift cards to City Bar B Q, for being player of the week, so they decided that would be a great place for lunch. I think they were right! ;) After lunch we hung out and visited and walked around the neighborhood to check out other houses being built. The dogs got to stretch their legs a bit and broke in their new grass in the back yard by running around. Danny had a night game that evening, so after a while we threw some dogs on the grill and whipped up some mac n' cheese before heading over to the park.
My parents drove up to see Danny play as well. My parents, Mr. Barker, the pups and myself all enjoyed a fun evening of good ole baseball and getting to see Danny pitch. Aside from the killer bugs that come out once the bright lights come on, it was fun. lol. After the game, the Ledford clan loaded up and headed home to Loveland.
Sunday I got up, got ready and waited for the boyfriend to arrive. Every year (beginning back to 1946..yes 1946) my family has a huge picnic, where family travel from all over to visit. Everyone brings a dish to share and we begin the picnic by gathering around, holding hands and saying grace. It was great to see everyone and enjoy tons of great, home cooked food. After lunch we played a little cornhole and did a lot of swimming. That pool was packed. Aside from all the bodies in it, there were tons of floats, toy balls and super soakers. It was a fun day for sure. I was happy that the weather was nice and it didn't rain on a Sunday, for a change. After the picnic we headed back to my parents house and were no sooner back and were in a pool again. My aunt, uncle and little cousins were on their way over to swim, so we ordered some Larosa's and had a pool party. Some of my family stopped over on their way home from the Father's Day Picnic, one of them being my cousin who was visiting from New York, Abby. I am so happy that i got to see her and catch up a bit!
A great weekend with loved ones is pretty priceless and definitely hard to beat! I think we are off to Lowes, so we can paint my kitchen today (i'll be sure to posy pictures!) and then we may go see Toy Story later (since Danny has a 9am game). Happy Saturday everyone!
Love,
Danny & Sarah
