Welp, I am all moved in and def. getting settled in quite nicely.
Last week was a whirlwind, to say the least. Monday, Danny and I spent most of the day flying back from Daytona Beach after a great vacation. Tuesday we both went back to work which was followed by an intense night of packing. I woke up early on Wednesday for my closing at 10am. It went great and it was nice to talk to the seller. He offered some good pointers and information pertaining to my house. On our way back after the closing I got a call from the movers who wanted to move up the my scheduled time to move. Lets just say they were at my apartment when my Dad and I got back. Hiring movers was the way to go. They did a great job and it took a lot of pressure off of me in that regard. By 5 o' clock i was moved in completely. My parents were a huge help (as always). They helped me with some unpacking and cleaning. My good friend, Sarah, stopped over for a visit and to see my house. It was great to see her and i am happy she got to see my house too. Palmer also has been stressed the max and having some wheezy attacks. Slowly, but surely he's getting settled and letting his nerves calm down. Poor little guy.
Unfortunately, I also got a taste of some of the negative that can come along with purchasing a house during such a crazy time. Long story short, the bank made a mistake with my loan and the appraiser had to come back out the day of my closing. He had a list of things that needed to be fixed and I had 48 hours to get a handy man and do it. It was all craziness, but I am happy to say that it all worked out in the end. I had two handy men come out early Friday before I headed to work to get the work done. My loan lady and the appraiser came out, pictures were taken and everyone was happy. Thank goodness!
Thursday, I had my sub leasers stop by my work to pick up my keys so they could move in and have furniture delivered. My Dad said he never had the heart to tell me, but I was pretty bold having my closing, movers AND sub leasers all lined up like I did. However, after some stuff being up in air and a little stressing at times, it all worked out in the end.
On Friday after work, my sister drove up from Cincinnati. She knew I had been dealing with a lot (both good and bad) and would be excited to see her. She was right! I was very happy to see her. Her and her friend Steph hung out at my house Friday evening while I unpacked. Steph's parents got me a bottle of champagne as a house warming gift. It was so sweet of them. On Saturday, my sister and I bummed around and she helped me do some odds n' ends. Saturday evening, my good friend, Katrina, and her boyfriend, arrived in town from Chicago. Me, Danny, Mike, Katrina and our friends Eric and Steph all hung out in my new back yard. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we never made it out to a bar. We all just caught up and enjoyed the weather and some drinks. Danny also lit my tiki torches on my deck. Eric later made some pizzas and Mike made some drinks. My sister and her friend, Lauren came back from campus and hung out with us before we passed out. Katrina and Mike are my first guests to sleep in my guest room! How exciting. :) Steph and Katrina each got me very thoughtful house warming gifts. They def. didn't have too but I do love and appreciate the thoughtful gifts!
Today, Sunday, Danny is getting ready for a big game of his. I hope (and have no doubt) that he will do very well! If you put your mind to something and work hard, you'll see good things. I look forward to Danny putting his full potential to good use, I have always had no doubt that things will eventually work out in his favor. I too, know from experience recently, how giving hard work and energy can wear you down. That's why its great when you finally begin to see the benefits and start to enjoy the positive results. As for me, I'm waiting for my cousin, Phil and his gf to stop by and see my place before a group of us head to Thurmans for lunch. Thurmans is a popular German Village restaurant that was featured on Man vs. food and are known for their terminator burger, which is a popular choice for those who partake in the Arnold Classic. I now live within walking distance of Thurmans. How crazy to think about. Its def. been go, go, go for Danny and I but we are loving it all, and just taking it as it comes. Taking it day by day.
If you're ever in town, feel free to stop by for a visit and as always hope you're getting a chance to enjoy the little things in life and some good ole sunshine. Happy Memorial Day!
~Sarah & Danny
