Happy Tuesday!
This past weekend was a fun but busy one. We headed up to Rockford, Illinois for Danny's longdrive competition. I took Friday off to get some much needed things done. My Dad came up to take care of a few things and grab the grandpups while in town. Danny got off of work and webegan our journey to Rockford, Illinois around 5.
It was a long trip that involved a couple crazy bad storms. One in particular, around Gary, IN, seemed like a scene out of a horror film. The creepy factories, confusing roads and dead ends, intense lightning and rain plus the random guy walking down the highway with a walking stick, was both creepy and just plain bizarre! Anywho, after our long drive we visited with Danny's parents for a bit (they stayed in the same hotel) then let our heads hit the pillow.
Danny and his Dad woke up early to head over to the competition. His Mom and I woke up a little later, ate breakfast and drove over. The driving range was very nice with a shaded sitting area, restaurant, bar, etc. The weather was pretty perfect and for the first time in a while, the humidity was low. All-in-all it was a great event and we all enjoyed being in sunny Rockford to support Danny. The competition ended when Danny went up for a second time and his balls were all OB. Although the breeze felt amazing, it probably wasn't the best thing for someone trying to hit a ball straight and in a particular area. Oh well. With everything on his plate at the moment, it made it difficult to practice and give the competition maybe the attention it needed. I told him he has a year to practice and this time next year he will probably have more time to simply focus on advancing to Las Vegas!
After gathering up our things and saying our "goodbyes" to the Barkers, we began our journey to Warrenville to see my friend, Katrina and her boyfriend, Mike. We had a little time to nap, shower and relax before our cab picked us up at 7pm. That night we participated in a bar golf crawl in downtown Naperville with some of Katrina's coworkers. We even got to rock some nifty t-shirts as we made our way to each bar. Downtown Naperville was so pretty and fun and after eight bars, we were ready to head home. The night ended with two boys, either passed out or with a belly ache, so I think it's safe to say that they each let loose and had fun. ;)
In the morning we grabbed brunch at a cute place called Tangerines. Here they make their own freshly squeezed OJ, which tasted delicious after a rough night. After brunch we packed up and started to make our back to Columbus. It was a busy, quick yet fun trip! We got to do a lot in just a 48 hour time span, that's for sure.
Hope everyone is having a great week so far and getting a chance to enjoy the cooler weather. Danny and I are looking forward to a beer/wine tasting on Thursday, that one of his co workers told him about. The money will go towards funding cancer research at The Ohio State University!
Thanks again to my parents for helping with the grandpups! Love you!
Take it easy,
Danny & Sarah
